Henk Bruinsma has been singing since childhood. During his high school years and afterwards he supplemented his allowance with busking, singing songs by the likes of Neil Young, Bob Dylan and the Beatles. After that he sang in classical choirs for many years, performing the masterpieces for choir and orchestra by the great composers, both in Holland and abroad. He made it twice to the finals of le Concours de la Chanson, a national competition for performers of French popular song, performing in De Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam. He has been conductor of the chamberchoir Viento del Norte, specializing in Latin-American music.
Henk started playing the guitar at the age of 14, because he noticed the attention his brother, who plays the piano, received from the girls. That’s why he decided to play the guitar (so nothing has changed since then, some might say…) He followed classical guitar lessons for 6 years and practiced diligently. Since then, he dabbled in many different styles: e.g. Bossa Nova, Cuban music, Renaissance music etc.
Henk has been an Argentine tango dancer, both as a leader and a follower, for over twelve years. He has been performing with Laura for 5 years now, first as Laura y Henk and now under the name Tangolicious.
He is working as a socio-therapist with the mentally disabled.
